Reunion

Hey everyone -
I received an update on the reunion from Lori and she said that so far we have 48 paid attendees. The reception hall needs us to have at least 100 people so lets try really hard to see if we can meet that goal by the next deadline, which is May 25th. That's only 26 couples so I think we can do it. If you have any questions or need to talk to Lori directly, her email address is: lwalgamotte@yahoo.com. Remember, your ticket price covers everything....the main event Saturday night and the food, entertainment, etc. that comes with it, plus everything else. There is no extra charge for the tour, picnic (byob and lunch), all the good times you'll have reconnecting with old friends and added bonus of getting to know many new ones.

If you don't use paypal, you can still get your tickets the old fashioned way, with a check and the good ole US postal service. The address is listed below. So if you are planning on coming, get your tickets as soon as you can, and have a great week!

No party would be complete....

without the official t-shirt!

Here is information on how you can order your very special, one-of-a-kind NHS Class of 89 Official Reunion tee. Doesn't it look snazzy?? I think it'd look great if everyone had one on at the Family Picnic in the park. To order your very own, click the order form below and it'll open big so you can print it, fill it out and return to Northshore Graphix with your payment to the address on the form. Deadline for t-shirt orders is June 1.

Reminder

Hey everyone!
Hope you are all starting to thaw out from the winter and are enjoying some great spring weather! I wanted to write up a quick update on the reunion.

* If you are in need of childcare, please email Aloysia: loltamarie@aol.com. She is in contact with some childcare centers and they need a rough head count of how many kids there might be.

* The first deadline to purchase tickets at the lowest rate is quickly approaching. If you haven't bought your tickets yet and plan to attend, please consider doing so now.

* Lodging: If you will need a place to stay, remember we have this discounted deal arranged with the Holiday Inn: http://nhsclassof89.blogspot.com/2009/01/save-date.html I haven't heard that we've filled up our block of 10 yet, so I'm assuming the discount is still valid. Please call to confirm.

I think they are also planning to do a t-shirt that will be available for sale because I got a sneak peek and I have to say....it looks GREAT! They are really putting together a fun event, I hope everyone will be able to make it. :)

The man behind the crazy class ring story....

I know it's taken longer then I would have liked to post, but as promised - here's Chris Pitre's update.

As you may recall, the summer between my junior and senior years we moved up to Idaho. I was only there for my senior year of high school but that became my home base for several years while I went to college in Louisiana. I spent summers there working for my parents and every Christmas holiday trying to squeeze in as much snow skiing as possible on a shoestring budget. I always knew that I would end up at UNO because of my somewhat specialized degree in engineering (only UNO and Michigan offer it), but I decided to spend my first year at LSU because I heard that a few of my old friends were going there. I lived in the Kirby Smith dormitory where several of the old gang were staying. I saw those guys a bit at first but ended up meeting new friends and drifting away. While I was at LSU I did run into a few NHS alumni. After switching to UNO I got back in touch with Shannon Borden. We remained good friends for several years until we neared graduation and lost touch. We are now in touch again on Facebook. I did run into some NHS alumni on campus at UNO and down at the French Quarter where I worked part time at Pat O’Brien’s.

After graduating from UNO I took a job at Bollinger Shipyards down in Lockport (near Houma) and really lost touch with everyone from NHS until you called me a couple of weeks ago about my class ring. After that first job I went to work in Houston in the oil and gas business for the same company that I work for now. It’s a great company and because of its international nature, I’ve been fortunate enough to see quite a bit of the world. That being said, I did take a 1 year “sabbatical” when I took a job with another company in San Diego. While in San Diego I met my wonderful wife Karla (I definitely hit the marriage jackpot!). San Diego was a wonderful place to live but my old company kept calling and I eventually gave in and moved back to Houston the week after Karla and I got married. At least now I have in-laws in that area so I get to go back at least once a year to visit.

After moving to Houston we started our family and now have three kids - Alanna is 5, Isabella is 3, and Nicolas is 1. With three kids spaced that close together I’m sure you can imagine that like many on the blog our lives are pretty much all about the kids. Well, that’s pretty much it. For the record, we do intend to attend the reunion. I’m always up for some crawfish!
